Biovac A – DRL
Indication and Usage –
- Biovac A is a freeze dried live attenuated vaccine indicated for prevention of disease caused by Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) in persons of age 1 year and older.
Dosage and Administration –
- It can be used for primary immunization. Only one dose of Biovac A staring at 12 months through 23 months of age.
- Inject one single dose of 0.5 ml subcutaneously over the deltoid muscle of the upper arm.
- No booster dose is required. After one year of age, one single dose for child and adult.
Contraindications –
- Hypersensitivity to the vaccine or any component of the formulation.
- Acute infectious disease or other serious illness.
- Acute febrile illness with temperature above 37.5 degree centrigrade.
- Immunological deficiency states.
- A history of anaphylaxis or any other serious allergic reaction to vaccines.
Adverse reactions –
- The most common side effects include nausea, pain, abdominal pain, anaphylactic reaction, convulsion, fatigue and headache, loss of appetite, tenderness, and vomiting.
- They do not normally last very long. Sitting or lying down can sometimes help.
